ThruLoc Nuts

hdw0025
ThruLoc self-locking (self-tightening), nut
Never tighten through-bolt nuts again.
Preferred by quality builders using all-thread/through bolting who don't want to hassle with on-going settling adjustments.

Your  want more than a well-designed, attractive and functional log home. Additionally, you want and deserve a log "dream home" with superior durability and stability.
Now, with Thru-Loc, you can have a "dream home" with a superior,
maintenance-free joinery/sealant system.

Tighter log fit equals greater stability. When logs shrink and settling occurs, Thru-Loc's patented ratchet-like design allows the through-bolt to pass through the (ratcheting), nut to maintain a tight joinery/sealant system.
When logs expand or twist, ThruLoc stays tightly locked, maintaining constant tension on wall systems. The tight joinery/sealant system maintained by ThruLoc provides superior resistance to air and water intrusion.

MAINTENANCE-FREE
Because ThruLoc automatically adjusts to log shrinkage, there's never a need to tighten the through-bolt nuts without the need to tighten the through-bolt nuts every 3-6 months. ThruLoc maintains a tight joinery/sealant system throughout all seasons and humidity levels with not so much as one minute of inconvenient maintenance.

Easy to install
ThruLoc self-locking nuts are as easy to install on site as standard through-bolt, log screw or spike systems. No special tools or extra installation times requires. ThruLoc mounts quickly on sill/plate logs. Simply turn to ensure a tight fit and fasten with screws.

LONG LASTING DURABILITY
ThruLoc nut's patented locking mechanism is made of stainless steel and enclose in a chrome plated steel housing designed to last as long as the logs themselves. They will not corrode during construction or over the life of the system.

Available in 3 sizes.
In axial tension tests conducted by an independent testing laboratory, ThruLoc nuts withstood proof-load tests in excess of the requirements of log home construction.

*Test Method:ASTM F606-90, test report available HERE.

Settling Jack / Post Settler / Post Leveler
Settling Jacks are used accommodate settling in log walls. Also called Post Jacks, they can also be used to stabilize the top of a frame wall to compensate for the settling difference between a non-settling frame wall and the log wall.
Made of two 1/4" x 5" square plates with  3/8" pre-drilled holes in two diagonal corners,
all-thread,  (all thread is welded to lower plate), nut, washer.
One plate is welded to bottom of all thread, second  plate sits on washer and nut at attaches to post or beam.
Custom sizes available. Done by certified welder. Non-engineered.

 Log Home Post Leveler

Zinc Phosphate Plating is anticorrosive and it lubricates for easier adjustments.

When your log home settles the load increases on your Screw-Jacks. Timely adjustments are especially important in the first few years when the most settling occurs. Occasionally an increased
load can happen and leveling can be a different task. Nortek has addressed this situation with the Nortek Log Home Leveler. They all handle the load but only one has been designed for the adjusting. Keep your home on the level. Your investment is resting on it!

Specifications for large size:

1" - 10 ACME high strength thread profile.
20,000 lb vertical load capacity.
6" square mounting plates.
8" total adjustment.

Lowered height of 1 3/8".
1-" diameter x 10" deep hole in post.
Adjustable with " wrench.

Advantages:

Adjustable in tight areas.

Bronze bearing & Zinc Phosphate plating reduces nut turning force.
Increased support are at the Spider Nut and the Bronze Bearing.
Nortek's exclusive Spider Nut provides easier adjustment with increased load displacement.
Multiple wrenches can be used on the Spider Nut for increased leverage.
Precision manufactured for strength and durability.
Welded construction for a lower profile.
Zinc Phosphate Plating serves as a long life natural lubricant and prevents corrosion.

Plumbing Expansion Joints
hdw0075

Plumbing Slip Fittings / Expansion Joints
Log homes settle and a challenging area to allow for the settling is plumbing.
The lubricated O ring joint ensures ease of movement while maintaining an effective seal. Available in ABS pipe, which will not rust, pit or degrade when exposed to moisture and common household chemicals and is extremely resilient and durable.
Used for drains and vents.
Units will allow for up to 3 of settling. If you anticipate more settling in your walls than 3, you should consider using 2 in-line.
Dual female ends.

Compression Springs
-
For all-thread (continuous rod)

Compression Springs are used for 3/4" - 7/8" through bolts (all thread-continuous threaded rod).
Due to recent upgrading of seismic ratings in many parts of the United States, Compression Springs have become more popular as the need for continuous connection from foundation to roof is required. This is often accomplished with All-thread
Compression Springs are installed either/or at the top or bottom of the all-thread, (continuous rod), that is running from foundation to top of wall. To keep the pressure on the logs during the settling process the nut/washer combo at one end needs to be tightened periodically. This can be accomplished by the tension created with the compression spring.
Handcrafted, "Green Log" builders may experience sufficient settling to need two compression springs "stacked" for sufficient settling compensation. Or, more likely, will need to adjust/tighten the nut/washer on the all thread once or twice during the settling process.
Through Bolting CAN Be An Excellent Fastening System!
Previously:, To Be Completely Effective, You Had To Tighten
The Through Bolts Several Times Each Year!
Now: You may have to only re-tighten 2 or 3 times total.

Compression Springs
- for lag screws

Smaller compression springs are used for 3/8" and 1/2" diameter lag screws that are still popular with some builders.
Due to recent upgrading of seismic ratings in many parts of the United States, Compression Springs have become more popular as the need for continuous connection from foundation to roof is required. This is often accomplished with All-thread
Compression Springs are installed at the top of the lag screw and tightened along with the lag until under full compression.
